American Downhiller is re-introducing the customizable aluminum ski racing pole. All of our poles are made of 8060 aluminum to maintain light weight and maximum strength while being shaped. Our bends have been developed by legendary ski pole bender Mark “Speedy” Archer who pioneered the art of custom bent racing poles on the World Cup. Speedy has shaped poles for numerous World Cup champions, including Bill Johnson and Picabo Street who attained Olympic gold medals while relying on the precise detail of his custom poles.
American Downhiller founder, Marco Sullivan, has brought Speedy back into the fold and together they are making the custom race pole available again. American Downhiller is offering Speedy’s Stock bends in 3 different shapes including Downhill, Super G and GS. Also available is the Coach, a straight pole interchangeable with a powder basket or racing disc.
Fully personalized custom bent poles, shaped by Speedy on site, will be available at select American Downhiller race camps.
